150 kWt Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustor Test Unit

A Circulating Fluidized Bed Test Unit, with a capacity of 150 kWt, is put into operation at Chemical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University (METU), in 2008. Fully-equipped, including DCS, Test Unit was sponsored by MİMAG Energy and TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey – Technology and Innovation Funding Programs Directorate). The objective of the project was to contribute to the utilization of Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers for combustion of local coals. The project was directed by Prof. Dr. Nevin Selçuk, who is an internationally very well known academician due to her contribution to the fluidized bed combustion of lignites and emission control systems.
